Frequently Asked Questions

Pay-Per-Click Questions

What is Pay-Per-Click?
Pay-per-click is a way to get your website ranked well on search engines. Pay-per-click search engines allow companies to bid on keywords that relate to their sites. Companies submit their site's descriptions and titles, along with a list of keywords to the engine. They also specify the amount of money that they're willing to spend on each keyword. Depending on how competitive a keyword is, rankings for a particular keyword may be very high or low.

For example, if one chooses to pay $.75 for the keyword "puppy food," while others pay only $.70 their site would rank first. If, on the other hand, one paid $.15, they may rank low.

How did you pick my keywords?
We start by making a list of keywords from the products or services you offer, as well as what keywords you have in your Meta tags. We put that list into a tool that spits out all the keyword variations people are actually searching for that relate to your products. From there we remove any keywords that are too general, or too expensive. General keywords get a ton of searches so they eat up a lot of your budget. They also don't produce very qualified traffic. If you sell custom body kits for Hondas from '95-'05 you wouldn't want to bid on the keyword "cars," because you'll get many visitors who are looking for products, information, or services you don't offer. Rather a keyword like "body kits Honda," would produce very qualified traffic and probably won't cost near as much.

How many keywords can I have?
We don't have a limit to how many keywords you can have, but more isn't always better. We try to create a thorough list that covers all of your products or services. If you have a lot of excess they'll just eat up your budget and probably won't improve your results.
Back

How come some of these keywords phrases don't make sense?
The keyword list we send you comes from the search engines. They alphabetize any keyword phrase so the pharse "Dooney and Burke handbag" would be listed in their statistics as "and burke dooney handbag." No matter what order the keyword phrase is typed in the search engines recognize it as the same keyword.

If I double my budget will my traffic double?
Sometimes yes, but most of the time no. There are many reasons why this doesn't usually work. Most of the time, if you are ranked pretty well and getting a pretty good amount of traffic and your double your budget, there will not be a big improvement. The search engines estimate that in the first place position, about 10% of the searches will click on your site. Many times there simply are not enough searches to double your traffic. Other times, if there are plenty of searches and you double your budget, or raise your bids you may be getting just a little more traffic put paying quite a bit more. Our technicians strategically pick keywords that will get you the most traffic for your money.

What if I can't find my site on the search engines?
The search engines often rotate the listings between a couple companies. This is to ensure that you don't use up your budget too quickly. If you type in a keyword you know you're listed for and don't see your site hit "Search" a couple more times. Your site should come up. If it still doesn't come up call support at 801-224-6545.

My keyword listings aren't listed on the engines anymore, what happened?
More than likely, your keywords are no longer listed on the search engines due to the popularity of your keyword listings. Each package has a budget set to last for a 30 day period, however if listings are overly popular they will generate all the promised traffic before the end of the month.

If you would like to keep your listings active for the full 30 day period, we recommend upgrading to a larger package. This will allow your listings to obtain greater traffic and will keep your listings active for a longer period of time. If you would like to upgrade, please let us know. Otherwise, your listings will become active as soon as you renew for the next 30 day period.

What is the difference between Google and Overture and why am I not on both?
Google and Overture are on two different servers. Google just has Google and AOL whereas Yahoo! has Yahoo! plus many other search engines. They are also different because Google puts your keywords on a rotator, meaning, if you type in your keyword and your website doesn’t show up try it again later and it will bring up your website. This will keep your website up all month long. Whereas Yahoo! has your keywords up in the same spot the whole month but, if you go through your budget it will take your website off until your renewal date.

We can have you on both search engines; you just have to have at least two packages with us. If you have one package with us, we can only put you on one search engine just because they are different servers.

Traffic Jam Ads Questions

What are Traffic Jams?
A Traffic Jam Ad is a pop-under. A window with your homepage is displayed underneath a person's web browser window. When they close that window they see your website.
Back

What does the ad look like?
The ad is your homepage, or what ever URL you want traffic to go to.
Back

How do I know they are being delivered?
We send you a link to a database along with a user name and password. This data base will tell you how many Traffic Jam Ads are being delivered each day, how many have been delivered that month, and then how many ads you have left.
Back

Why isn't my site counter showing the Traffic Jam Ads?
The site counters don't always show the ads. Some counters will only track the hit if the person looks around on your site. It's best to track your Traffic Jam Ads through the Traffic Jam Ad database.
Back

Is the traffic targeted?
Unfortunately, the traffic isn't targeted. That is why Traffic Jam Ads are so inexpensive. The ads are delivered at random, but that doesn't mean they are worthless. Traffic Jam Ads improve your site popularity, which will boost your Alexa rating. We have many clients who make sales or get leads from the Traffic Jam Ads. They are an inexpensive service that will add value to your website.
